Greenwich, Cumberland County
Greenwich Township is the westernmost town in Cumberland County, set on the Cohansey River where it meets the Delaware Bay. It borders Fairfield, Hopewell, and Stow Creek townships and Lower Alloways Creek Township in Salem County. With about 770 residents in 2020, it is one of the county's smallest towns. Its places include Greenwich village, Bacons Neck, Othello, Springtown, and Sheppards Mill. Housing is a mix of colonial-era and Federal homes in the historic village and farmhouses across preserved farmland.
The Greenwich Historic District covers about 350 acres and was added to the National Register in 1972, with a boundary increase in 2024. It includes Colonial, Federal, and Dutch Colonial buildings, such as a 1779 brick meeting house. Homes this old need specialized repairs that most buyers will not take on. We buy historic houses as they are.
In December 1774, residents burned a load of tea bound for Philadelphia in what is called the Greenwich Tea Party, now marked by a 1908 monument. Older homes near the village center may carry layers of past additions and repairs. We do not ask you to sort them out before selling.
State records show 24 Greenwich farms preserved through the farmland program, covering about 2,900 acres. Many homes sit on or beside farm parcels, and rural lots like these commonly use private wells and septic systems. Deed restrictions on preserved land can complicate a sale, and we review them as part of our offer.

In New Jersey, an inherited house is sold through the estate, so the executor or court-appointed administrator signs the sale. We talk with each heir separately and privately, so no one has to negotiate as a group, and we'll walk you through getting an administrator appointed if that hasn't happened yet.
Thirty days is typical, and clean files can move faster. If you need more time, we'll write the date you want into the contract.
