Harrison, Hudson County
Harrison is a town of about 19,500 people on the east bank of the Passaic River, across from downtown Newark, bordered by Kearny and East Newark. It was once called the Beehive of Industry, home to Edison Lamp Works, RCA, Otis Elevator, and Hyatt Roller Bearing. Today the riverfront is filling in with apartments near the Harrison PATH station and Sports Illustrated Stadium, while older houses fill the blocks away from the river.
The Harrison Waterfront Redevelopment Plan covers about 275 acres, roughly 35 percent of the town, and the population grew about 43 percent from 2010 to 2020. New apartment buildings near the PATH station set a high bar for renters and buyers. An older house that needs updating can sit on the market next to them. We buy it as it is.
During Hurricane Irene in 2011, water backed up into basements on the 100 block of Warren Street and on Cleveland Avenue near Passaic Avenue, and the lower end of Harrison Avenue went under water. A history of wet basements can bring up insurance and inspection questions. We buy Harrison houses with past water problems without requiring repairs.
At its World War II peak, Harrison had about 14,000 residents and more than 90,000 workers commuting in each day. Long-owned houses from those years can still have original plumbing, wiring, and heating. When an inherited house needs a full update, we can buy it as-is and handle the clean-out.

Questions from Harrison sellers
Many sellers choose to, because renovating to match the new buildings costs time and money. We make cash offers on Harrison houses in their current condition.
Yes. We buy Harrison homes with past basement flooding and don't ask you to waterproof or repair anything first.
In New Jersey, an inherited house is sold through the estate, so the executor or court-appointed administrator signs the sale. We talk with each heir separately and privately, so no one has to negotiate as a group, and we'll walk you through getting an administrator appointed if that hasn't happened yet.
Thirty days is typical, and clean files can move faster. If you need more time, we'll write the date you want into the contract.
