Millstone, Somerset County
Millstone is a borough of about 0.7 square miles on the Millstone River, surrounded by Hillsborough and Franklin townships. It had about 450 residents in 2020 and roughly 170 housing units in 2010. County Routes 514 and 533 are its main roads; no state or U.S. highway enters the borough. The town was once called Somerset Courthouse and served as the county seat from 1738 until British troops burned it in 1779.
A historic district of 58 buildings in Millstone was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. Older homes like these can need specialized repairs, and retail buyers often expect that work done before closing. We buy historic Millstone homes as they are, so you don't have to take on restoration work before you sell.
The borough is named for the Millstone River, a major Raritan tributary that runs beside it. Riverside properties can raise flood-zone and insurance questions in a traditional sale, especially when the buyer is financing. We pay cash and don't require a lender's flood determination, so those questions don't hold up closing.
After the Battle of Princeton in January 1777, George Washington made his headquarters at the Van Doren house here while the army camped nearby. Millstone became a borough in 1894, carved from Hillsborough. With so few homes in town, a listing can sit until the right buyer comes along. We make a direct cash offer instead.

Questions from Millstone sellers
Yes. We buy houses in Millstone as they are, including older homes that need repairs.
Often, yes. We work with executors and heirs, and once the person selling has authority to sign, we can buy the house for cash and close on their timeline.
In New Jersey, an inherited house is sold through the estate, so the executor or court-appointed administrator signs the sale. We talk with each heir separately and privately, so no one has to negotiate as a group, and we'll walk you through getting an administrator appointed if that hasn't happened yet.
Thirty days is typical, and clean files can move faster. If you need more time, we'll write the date you want into the contract.
