Ogdensburg, Sussex County
Ogdensburg is a borough of about 2,300 residents on 2.25 square miles in Sussex County, bordering Franklin, Hardyston, and Sparta. It was carved from Sparta Township in 1914 and is named for first settler Robert Ogden. No state or U.S. highway enters town; County Route 517 is the main road. Ogdensburg is home to the Sterling Hill Mining Museum, on the site of a zinc mine that operated until 1986, and the 2020 census counted about 930 homes.
The Sterling Hill zinc mine operated until 1986 and is now the Sterling Hill Mining Museum on Plant Street, listed on the National Register in 1991. Ogdensburg also includes the Sterling Hill, South Ogdensburg, and Heaters Pond areas. Older houses in a long-settled mining town can come with dated wiring, heating, and plumbing. We buy Ogdensburg homes as they are.
The 2020 census counted 927 housing units in Ogdensburg, about 6% of them vacant. A vacant house in a small borough still carries taxes, insurance, and upkeep while it waits for a buyer. We buy vacant and inherited Ogdensburg homes and can close on your schedule.
Ogdensburg voters approved leaving Sparta Township in a 1914 referendum, and the borough now has its own government and a pre-K through eighth grade school. Homes near the lines with Sparta and Hardyston can be mixed up with those towns. We check the deed and tax records first, then make a cash offer.

Yes. We buy houses throughout Ogdensburg, including the Sterling Hill and South Ogdensburg areas, in as-is condition.
Yes. We buy vacant and estate properties for cash and can work with the executor on timing.
In New Jersey, an inherited house is sold through the estate, so the executor or court-appointed administrator signs the sale. We talk with each heir separately and privately, so no one has to negotiate as a group, and we'll walk you through getting an administrator appointed if that hasn't happened yet.
Thirty days is typical, and clean files can move faster. If you need more time, we'll write the date you want into the contract.
