Wenonah, Gloucester County
Wenonah is a borough of about one square mile between Deptford and Mantua townships, near Mantua Creek. Philadelphia businessmen founded it in 1871 as a country resort, drawn by the creek and the West Jersey Railroad, and it became a borough in 1883. From 1902 until the Great Depression it was home to the Wenonah Military Academy. Over about 40 years, dams created a series of recreational lakes, and conservation areas now cover more than a fifth of the borough's land, with over six miles of trails.
Wenonah began as an 1871 resort along the West Jersey Railroad, and the Stone House Inn dates to around 1773. Homes in a town laid out that long ago can carry old foundations, plaster walls, and dated systems. We buy older Wenonah houses as-is, so you do not have to restore them before selling.
More than 21 percent of Wenonah's land is in conservation areas, with trails around lakes created by dams. Lots near lakes, streams, or preserved land can raise survey, drainage, and wetlands questions. We buy Wenonah homes near water and open space in their current condition.
Wenonah had about 880 housing units in 2020, and only about 4 percent were vacant. With so few listings, finding a comparable sale for an unusual or outdated house is difficult. We make cash offers without an appraisal contingency and can close on the date you choose.

In New Jersey, an inherited house is sold through the estate, so the executor or court-appointed administrator signs the sale. We talk with each heir separately and privately, so no one has to negotiate as a group, and we'll walk you through getting an administrator appointed if that hasn't happened yet.
Thirty days is typical, and clean files can move faster. If you need more time, we'll write the date you want into the contract.
