Bogota, Bergen County
Bogota is a borough of under one square mile on the east bank of the Hackensack River, bordered by Hackensack, Ridgefield Park, and Teaneck. It was formed from Ridgefield Township in 1894 and named for the Bogert family, early settlers. The CSX River Line splits the borough in two: the eastern half is more industrial with busier roads, and the western half is mostly residential, with shops on West Main Street and River Road. Interstate 80 crosses the southern tip, and the Court Street and Midtown bridges lead to Hackensack.
The Hackensack River forms Bogota's western edge, and freight lines run along the riverbank. Houses on the low streets near the water can sit in or close to mapped flood zones, which affects a buyer's insurance costs and lender requirements. We check the address, account for it in our offer, and buy the house as-is for cash.
The CSX tracks divide Bogota into a busier, industrial east side and a quieter residential west side. Homes near the tracks or the industrial blocks can take longer to sell to buyers who are financing and comparing neighborhoods. We buy on either side of the line and price the house on what it is.
Bogota had about 3,000 housing units in 2020 and fewer than 3 percent were vacant. With little new construction, the homes here are the ones that have stood for decades, and many have been in one family a long time. We buy long-held and inherited houses, including ones that still need a clean-out.

Questions from Bogota sellers
Passenger service to Bogota ended in 1966, and the restored service NJ Transit has proposed is only a proposal. We base our offer on today's market, not on projects that haven't been built.
Yes. Proximity to the tracks is part of the price, but it doesn't stop us from buying. We make a cash offer and close on your timeline.
In New Jersey, an inherited house is sold through the estate, so the executor or court-appointed administrator signs the sale. We talk with each heir separately and privately, so no one has to negotiate as a group, and we'll walk you through getting an administrator appointed if that hasn't happened yet.
Thirty days is typical, and clean files can move faster. If you need more time, we'll write the date you want into the contract.
Yes. We're a New Jersey company based in Toms River, and we buy in all 21 counties, including Bergen County. We are BBB accredited with an A+ rating, listed under our affiliate Gembrook Properties.
