Closter, Bergen County
Closter is a Northern Valley borough of about 8,600 people, nicknamed the Hub of the Northern Valley and bordered by Alpine, Demarest, Emerson, Harrington Park, Haworth, and Norwood. It lies behind the highest point of the Palisades and was formed from Harrington Township in 1904. County routes 501, 502, and 505 cross town, and buses on Schraalenburgh Road run to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Downtown and the rebuilt Closter Plaza anchor a borough of about 2,900 homes, including Jersey Dutch houses from its early settlement.
Many Jersey Dutch houses survive in Closter, especially along Hickory Lane and Piermont Road, and streets carry early family names like Demarest, Durie, Naugle, and Vervalen. Houses that old can need specialized masonry, framing, and system work that buyers' inspectors flag. We buy older Closter homes as they are, without asking for repairs.
The Northern Branch railroad reached Closter in 1859, and after 1900 the town shifted from farms and estates to a suburb. Passenger trains are long gone; commuters now use buses or drive. Homes from each stage of that change sit side by side, and their condition varies widely. We price each house on its own condition.
The Oradell Reservoir, run by a private water utility, extends into Closter along with Haworth, Emerson, and Harrington Park. Homes near the reservoir and the brooks that feed it can raise survey, drainage, and flood-zone questions during a sale. We look into those items ourselves and still make a cash offer on the house as-is.

Questions from Closter sellers
Yes. We buy older homes, including historic Dutch-era houses, without inspections contingencies or repair requests, and we pay cash.
Often yes. We work with the executor and the estate attorney and can sign a contract while the estate is being settled, then close when the executor has authority to convey.
In New Jersey, an inherited house is sold through the estate, so the executor or court-appointed administrator signs the sale. We talk with each heir separately and privately, so no one has to negotiate as a group, and we'll walk you through getting an administrator appointed if that hasn't happened yet.
Thirty days is typical, and clean files can move faster. If you need more time, we'll write the date you want into the contract.
